Stage Set for Drama as 132 Chase Glory at Chevron Championship
Korda, Ko and Vu headline star-studded major field teeing off in Texas
Seoul, Korea - The LPGA Tour’s 2025 major season springs to life this week as The Chevron Championship welcomes 132 of the world’s finest to The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas.
The field reads like a who's who of women's golf. Defending champion Nelly Korda, Olympic gold medallists Lydia Ko and Korda herself, and past champions Lexi Thompson, Stacy Lewis and Lilia Vu are all primed for action. In fact, 24 of the top 25 players in the Rolex Rankings are confirmed, promising high-calibre competition from Thursday’s opening shot.
Also among the contenders is Sweden’s Ingrid Lindblad, fresh off her maiden LPGA win in Los Angeles, making her debut at the major. In total, the field includes 66 LPGA winners, 49 major titles, and nearly 300 victories between them, a staggering testament to the depth of talent on display.
The purse rises to $8 million this year, with a $10,000 minimum guarantee for every competitor. Off the course, luxury abounds—Cadillac provides vehicles for all players, with past champions enjoying Bentleys and a Champions Dinner curated by the defending titleholder and world-class chef Thomas Keller.
Local hopes ride with The Woodlands native Stacy Lewis, Houston’s Gurleen Kaur—who makes her pro major debut—and Lauren Coughlin, third here in 2024. Texans Kristin Gillman and Cheyenne Knight also look to claim their first major on home turf.
As ever, Sunday will conclude with one golfer leaping into the lake, Dinah Shore Trophy in hand, joining the legends of the game as a major champion.
