Hedwall and Reid Named 2026 Solheim Cup Vice Captains
European trio reunite with purpose and passion for Bernardus battle
Seoul, Korea -Caroline Hedwall and Mel Reid, two of Europe’s most passionate competitors, have been named Vice Captains for the 2026 Solheim Cup by European Captain Anna Nordqvist. The announcement was made on 21 April 2025 ahead of the prestigious event, which will take place at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands from 7 to 13 September 2026.
Hedwall, a five-time Solheim Cup player, expressed her excitement about stepping into a new leadership role. “The Solheim Cup has given me so many unforgettable moments,” she said. “I’ve always played with heart for Europe, and to support Anna in this way is truly special. With Mel by our side, we’ll bring fire and unity to the team room.”
Mel Reid, whose Solheim journey includes four playing appearances and two stints as Vice Captain, echoed the sentiment: “Being part of the Solheim Cup is a privilege. Whether playing or leading, the atmosphere is electric. I’m honoured Anna trusts me to help guide the team again. She’ll be an incredible Captain.”
Nordqvist, a seasoned Solheim Cup veteran with nine appearances and five wins, highlighted the trio’s long-standing camaraderie: “I’ve known both Caroline and Mel since we were teenagers. We’ve battled together, celebrated together, and now we’re stepping into this new chapter together. Their energy and experience will be vital.”
Bernardus Golf, having hosted three DP World Tour events, promises to deliver a spectacular stage for one of women’s golf’s finest spectacles. With Europe narrowly retaining the Cup in 2023 and falling short in 2024, the 2026 edition is shaping up to be a compelling rematch with high stakes—and high spirits.
